"Church in the Heart of the City with the City at Heart"
Continuing the work of Jesus. Peacefully. Simply. Together.

The Hagerstown Church of the Brethren Youth Group is designed for middle and senior high youth.

Sunday School: Grades 6-12 meet weekly on Sunday at 9:45 in Room 301 for a time of digging deeply into scriptures while building a strong sense of community.  This group is active with meetings, service projects, retreats, games, and other faith building activities.

Youth Club: This is a program to help children grow in faith, is open to all children pre-kindergarten through middle school.  Every Thursday evening from 6 to 7:15 pm, children and youth gather in the Fellowship Hall for a brief time of singing before splitting into their age groups for study time. Lessons based on the Church of the Brethren “Shine” curriculum highlight a Biblical story and applies it to contemporary living for children and youth. Occasionally, guests from Shepherd’s Spring Outdoor Ministry Center come to lead the group in active games.

Each evening ends with a snack.

Youth Events: Regularly the group works on fundraisers to help them attend special camps and retreats. Regular scheduled events include the following:

  • District Conference Junior High Lock-In
  • Senior High Christmas Lock-In
  • Winter District Retreat in January at Camp Hashawha
  • Mid-Spring Roundtable at Bridgewater College
  • Junior and Senior High Summer Work Camps
  • Summer Camp at Shepherd’s Spring
  • National Work Camps through the Church of the Brethren
  • District Beach Retreat in September at Cape Henlopen State Park
