The March and April meetings of the Discovery Team consisted of analyzing and brainstorming on the congregational responses collected on Sunday, March 3, 2013. The process began by breaking the team up into two small groups. Each group was assigned a stack of response sheets to review and subsequently identify emerging ideas and themes. The two groups then got back together and reported their findings.
Once all responses were sorted and reviewed, the team began to analyze and brainstorm on the information. Through this process the Discovery Team learned what areas of Church life the Congregation would like to see initiated or continued. Some of the ideas and themes identified that topped the list were:
- Youth Club
- Incresed youth contribution & participation within the life of the Church
- Congregational Bible Study
- Leadership
- Outreach to the neighborhood and community
- Disciple making and working together as a Congregation showing love and respect to each other.
After brainstorming on the above ideas and themes the team identified four areas of concentration for discernment through prayer. They are:
- Leadership
- Change of thinking
- Community outreach
- Why we come to church and What we do while we are here?
There are other upcoming meetings where the Discovery Team will have a chance to report and members of the Congregation will have a chance to express their opinions.
I cannot stress enough that this process is a group effort and it will take all members involvement to make it a success.
