VISION STATEMENT
Journeying with Christ - Serving Our Neighbors - Uniting at the Master’s Table
October 12, 2008

Dear Friends in Christ,

It's the time of the year when we bless the Lord for all the wonderful
gifts we have received from God.

Yet, how do we know when we're being good stewards of those gifts?

What is a Steward? The definition of steward is someone who
manages another's property or financial affairs.

Stewardship usually makes you think about money, but money is not
the only thing that God requires of us. The Bible tells us that God put
Adam and Eve in charge of creation, instructing Adam to take care of
the plants and animals.

In the New Testament, Jesus tells the parable of the talents - a story
that teaches us that we need to share our talents to help build the
kingdom instead of hiding them away.

The Disciple I Bible Study teaches us how to become disciples that
spend our time giving to God and one another.

In the next year, we need to focus on all that God has given us - our
time, our talents, the Earth, and our money.

Our 300th Anniversary theme this year is Surrendered to God,
Transformed by Christ, Empowered by the Spirit. This is a time to
celebrate what God has done in our midst in the past, to seek
prayerfully, to surrender to God, with new transformation through
Christ, and new empowerment by the Holy Spirit in faithful witness to
God for the future.

We are a body of all different talents, and we need every one of us in
doing God's work.

Please pray by thanking and praising God for what your commitment
to God's church will be for the coming year. How can you use your
talents, so that God is given the glory?

Please bring your Gifts/Commitment card to worship on Sunday,
November 16, 2008, so we may dedicate our talents to God as we
praise God for God's mercy and many blessings.

Thank you for all that you do as a part of the Body of Christ.

Yours in Christ,
Hagerstown COB
