MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren is to celebrate the love of Jesus Christ and glorify the
Lord by striving to live as Christ lived,  experiencing the power of God's healing in our lives.  We seek to nurture
our faith community through prayer, music  and the proclaimed Word, while enthusiastically reaching out to
others with compassion, respect and love for everyone so that we may grow in faith and commitment together.

Commissions of the Hagerstown COB


WORSHIP COMMISSION is responsible for the pulpit program,
both regular and special; administration of the  Ordinances; music
and Choirs; the work of the ushers; the acolytes; flowers and
other decorations; special worship  services; publicity and
promotion; broadcasting; and the Sunday bulletin.


CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMISSION is responsible for the
Church School to include staffing and administration; Vacation
Church School; weekday religious education; camping;
audiovisuals; curriculum; men's, women's and youth fellowships;
small group fellowships; library and  leadership development.


SPIRITUAL NURTURE COMMISSION is responsible for the work of
the Deacons; Church dinners and social   occasions; services to
new members; We Care; Prayer Chain; Parish Nurses; Church
retreats; marriage enrichment; evangelism; Church Directory;
Church newsletter; and the Messenger.


SERVICE AND OUTREACH COMMISSION is responsible for the
relationship of the Congregation to the Church of the Brethren
Denomination & District of which it is apart; Ecumenical,
Denominational and Civic affairs; world missions and service;
social and political action; peace, temperance and race issues;
Brethren Volunteer Service; relief; refugee resettlement; youth
exchange; community service; and Good Samaritan Fund.


PROPERTY AND FINANCE COMMISSION is responsible for the
maintenance of the property; bookkeeping and accounts;
stewardship enlistment; raising and investing capital funds;
encouraging members to remember the Church in their wills;
directing the custodian and the preservation of historical records.
