October 18, 2006

Dear members and friends of the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren,

November 19, 2006 will be an important day in the life of our church.  This is
the Sunday on which we will express our intended investment in the church for
the coming year.  We are calling it our Stewardship Consecration Sunday.

I Corinthians 12:4-11 reads: "Now there are different kinds of spiritual gifts,
but it is the same Holy Spirit who is the source of them all.  There are different
kinds of service in the church, but it is the same Lord we are serving.  There
are different ways God works in our lives, but he is the same God who does
the work through all of us.  A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of
helping the entire church." Don't deny, belittle or ignore your gifts. Thank God
for them and use them to his glory.

You will be receiving your Estimate of Giving card for 2007. You are invited to
prayerfully consider the amount you hope to give to the Hagerstown Church
of the Brethren in the coming year.  Please complete and bring it with you to
be presented in worship on November 19th. If you are unable to attend, you
can return it by mail to the church and it will be included with the others.

In uncertain financial times, many of us hesitate to increase our commitment.
Yet I believe that God gives us the strength to do what God leads us to do. As
I have said before, stewardship is our responsibility of managing God's work
through the church.  I have decided to increase my pledge for the coming
year by 10%.  Praise God for the things he has done for us and pray for his
guidance as you make your decision of the investment you will contribute to
the church this year.

May God bless you.

Sincerely in the name of our Lord,

BR, Chair
